This Seagate 40 GB hard drive offers reliability and high performance. The slim Seagate DiamondMax Plus 8 internal hard drive is composed of a two-piece case, with top cover featuring a brushed aluminum finish and the bottom portion coated in glossy black paint. The Seagate 40 GB hard drive measures approximately 5.8 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 0.6 inches deep. The Seagate DiamondMax Plus 8 case screws are covered with a smooth aluminum foil tape that allows the owner to see whether anyone has tampered with the unit. The single disc platter on this internal hard drive is much smaller its predecessors, resulting in shifting it towards the center of the drive. Another key feature of the Seagate 40 GB hard drive is primarily solid aluminum construction. While this results in a heavier drive, the extra metal helps to dissipate heat while in operation and adds long-term reliability. Furthermore, the drive allows for four modes of operation: DS (MASTER), DS (SLAVE), CS Enabled, and Cap Limit.
