I say overlay because you keep your old fob in tact (don’t remove top or side pieces). The entire fob slides into the rubber sleeve for the button controls. The metal pieces screw together over the existing sleeved fob. Once all together the unit seems very sturdy and strong. The only issue I have is the Porsche logo is not flush with the rest of the fob and recessed a little.
