"While the 250 color images of chosen masterpieces from the best of Western art are mesmerizing, and their placement in his ideal museum a fascinating exercise, the author's descriptions are not only informed and insightful, they're practically poetry." ~ Ambassador

Synopsis
Philippe Daverio is one of Italy's most important contemporary art historians, whose discerning comments about art are voraciously consumed by the public through his writing as editor of the famed magazine Art e Dossier and his platform on a leading Italian television program Passepartout . Now, in his first full-length work of narrative nonfiction, Daverio uses the conceit of creating his own perfect museum gallery and in the process reexamines major artistic masterpieces of Western art. Daverio turns his critical eye on the place of Western art in contemporary twenty-first-century culture and how we relate to art generally. According to Daverio, we relate to the history of art based on views that crystallized in the nineteenth century, and so we look to the past to understand the present, though the present is what truly matters to everyone. Daverio means to challenge this perspective, and guided by his curiosity and personal taste, he examines key masterworks to rediscover the true meaning and power they had before they became commoditized and cliched., Philippe Daverio is one of Italy's most important contemporary art historians, whose discerning comments about art are voraciously consumed by the public through his writing as editor of the famed magazine Art e Dossier and his platform on a leading Italian television program Passepartout . Great vintage item in perfect condition, new as described, with packaging and paperwork intact. Item was a good price, with a seller better price offer made. It was safely packed with fast shipping. Seller had great communication and fast response when initially I had ordered the wrong item, and asked to cancel that first order. First order was immediately cancelled and full refund given when I requested it, so I could purchase the correct item. Would do business again. A++++eBay seller!!!

This is an OUTSTANDING example of the beautiful sculptures of mothers done by John Whiterock, of the Navajo nation. It is far more beautiful than "as described" and is just gorgeous. The seller was very careful in packaging this fragile piece and shipped it ASAP! The shipping cost was very reasonable. This piece adds value to the history of this artist's work in the "Mother" series he creates and I am so happy to have it. Would buy from this seller again.
