Second edition, the same year as the first. Bound in the original blue decorated boards, titled in gilt to the spine and black to the front cover. Spine ends bumped. Patterned endpapers. Closed edges and early leaves with some foxing, the odd spot of foxing here and there. Lacks the rear endpaper. Prev owner's blind stamped ownership details to the half title. 2pp ad leaf for other titles by Zola to the start of the book, 488pp, with section of publishers ads to the rear, dated March 1898. English text of this French classic novel. Good/None. Paris was the third and last novel of Zola's Three Cities trilogy. He finished the novel in the Parisian summer of 1897. It was published in serial in Le Journal starting October 23. Critic Edmond Lepelletier wrote that the plot of Paris was a premonition of the coming Dreyfus Affair.”
