After 2003s NOT EXOTIC and 2005s VIOLENCE IN THE SNOWY FIELDS, Dolorean became an underground favorite with national critics, writers and a loyal following of fans. Now, with YOU CAN'T WIN, their third Yep Roc release, Dolorean delivers another collection of melancholy and stunningly beautiful folk pop songs. Singer Al James completed the eleven new songs here after Dolorean's 2005 European tour, and before long, the band performed the set live at two gigs within two weeks at one bar in their hometown Portland, OR. After these two brief outings, James and cohorts promptly went into the studio and recorded all the basic tracks in one weekend. Cinematic and haunting in their imagery, the songs on YOU CAN'T WIN- from the spooky opening percussion on the title track to the closing notes of "My Still Life"- confirm the critical accolades.
