It came oiled and was reasonably sharp, some parts on the blade were slightly sharper than others. Other than that, there are a couple of scratches on the black paint on the Kashira. The Tsuka-Ito was tightly wrapped (my first sword so don't know whether it's because its leather or just tightly wrapped) and was comfortable to hold. All in all for under a hundred (USA) dollars I'm VERY impressed and it's worth getting.
