I bought them (I only needed one) to attempt to clip on one of my archtop guitars to try to get an acoustic archtop tone. They come pretty close!! Although they CAN be used without, they work much better using phantom power. Who knew that a $2 mic would actually work, and actually SOUND GOOD!!!
