The glass is held in by the same little dog ear metal flaps you see on cheap picture frames. It does not seal closed, so isn't weatherized or waterproof in any way. But it is metal and glass, so has a semi-authentic look. I was originally planning on making a window using two of these with a home-built window casing, but the quality is too low for that, so I placed both on an exterior wall and placed images of the ocean inside.
