This trombone virtuoso and innovative composer combines the best of jazz and Latin music on this twelve-song release. Vazquez is one of the best contemporary arrangers of Afro-Caribbean jazz, the first to fully integrate the bomba and plena into American jazz. Over the decades, he's collaborated with Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Andy Gonzalez, Manny Oquendo, Steve Berrios, Chico O'Farrill, Milton Cardona, and others. "Carnival in San Juan" includes appearances by Bill Lee, Tito Cepeda, John Benitez, Roberto Cepeda, Fred McFarlane, Victor Jones, and many, many more.
