John Smeaton, the greatest civil engineer of the 18th century, was principal founder of the profession in Britain and an engineering scientist of international repute. This is the first full-length study of his life and work. It covers the whole range of Smeaton's astonishingly diverse achievements: scientific investigations, mills, steam engines, the Eddystone Lighthouse, bridges, canals, fen drainage and harbours. There are also sections on his life, his professional practice, and his papers and books. The organization of the works and Smeaton's relationship with his resident engineers and fellow consultants are of considerable interest andparticular attention is paid to these aspects of his career. The authors have been able to draw on rih primary material including personal letters, hundreds of original drawings, minute books and a complete set of engineering reports. There are full references to original sources and a list, with dates, of all the works carried out to Smeaton's designs together with may illustrations. This special bicentennial edition has been produced to commemorate the death of John Smeaton on 28 October 1792.

I got the bluray today. Wrapping of item, and overall charges were great. Plus no signs of damages to the disc itself. However, the delivery time could've better. The seller did his part, like any reliable seller so the blame goes to the shipping companies involved. They can be a hassle these days.
