It is 802.11 b/g compliant and certified DOCSIS 2.0/1.1. The SBG901 cable modem has advanced integrated security features for reliable networking that you can monitor. These combined features make the Motorola SBG901 wireless router a safe and powerful option for your Internet connection and wireless home or office network. The Motorola SBG901 cable modem and wireless router features an integrated wireless access point, which allows you powerful networking and Wi-Fi sharing capabilities. Connect via Ethernet or setup a wireless network to serve up to 253 laptops, desktops, or other wireless devices. Motorola makes setup easy with plug and play installation. Ethernet connection is achieved in minutes, when you connect your powered modem to your computer via an Ethernet cable, and from there you can proceed to wireless network configuration. A wireless pairing button allows you to connect hundreds of computers, tablets, smart phones, and other devices to the SBG901 router. A panel of labeled LED indicators on the modem helps the user setup and troubleshoot the wireless router on their own. The Motorola SBG901 cable modem and wireless router can achieve download speeds of up to 38 Mbps and upload speeds of 30 Mbps. The Motorola SBG901 goes beyond standard default functions such as a username and password to help you protect your network. To ensure the security of your wireless network, the Motorola SBG901 router has built-in advanced firewall protection. A web-based tool helps you diagnose and troubleshoot any problems and it allows you to monitor network traffic, configure passwords, restrict devices, and more. The SBG901 also features 64 and 128-bit WEP (wired equivalent privacy) encryption. Combined, these security features go beyond default measures, to truly ensure the security of your network and protect it from any ongoing potential threats. Accessories included with the Arris / Motorola SBG901 SURFboard wireless cable modem gateway are a power cord, an Ethernet cord, a user manual, and a software installation and setup CD. The Motorola SBG901 wireless router requires a cable Internet service, and download speeds will vary based on the cable provider service. The cable modem router also requires DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) compatibility. DOCSIS is the industry standard for cable services, however it is best to check to be sure. It is compatible with 802.11g, 10/100 Ethernet port, and backward compatible with 802.11b.
