Synopsis
The Book of Baruch is a Bible pseudepigrapha; a deuterocanonical work attributed to Baruch ben Neriah, the scribe of the prophet Jeremiah. The Assumption of Moses is a Jewish apocryphal work concerning hidden prophecies that Moses revealed to Joshua prior to the latter inheriting his leadership of the ancient Jews. Together these works constitute typical examples of popular Biblical texts which are extra-canonical; most Christian and Jewish groups do not regard their contents as true. Their origins are definitively proven to be several centuries after the time they purport to be from. However, theological scholars have expressed some interest, particularly given the time and context of the writing; being as these pseudepigrapha are old texts, they themselves carry value. This edition contains a lengthy, explanatory introduction by W. O. E. Oesterley, and the well-regarded translations of Bible scholars R. H. Charles (for Baruch) and William John Ferrar (for Moses)., The Book of Baruch is a Bible pseudepigrapha; a deuterocanonical work attributed to Baruch ben Neriah, the scribe of the prophet Jeremiah. The Assumption of Moses is a Jewish apocryphal work concerning hidden prophecies that Moses revealed to Joshua prior to the latter inheriting his leadership of the ancient Jews.Together these works constitute typical examples of popular Biblical texts which are extra-canonical; most Christian and Jewish groups do not regard their contents as true. - l***r (620)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThis was referred to in a book by Dr Ernest Martin. So, I ordered it, and it is extremely interesting. Always been interested in Jeremiah's journey with Baruch, and the daughters of Zedekiah. This includes a very interesting dream/vision by Baruch, that actually validates the book of Daniel amongst others. What was really fascinating was hearing about the "temple" items and what happened to them when Nebechanezer sacked the Temple.
- e***n (392)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseGreat transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, Joe
- 0***g (380)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseExcellent purchase. Was able to get all three items from the one seller. Seller was able to bundle all three items together into one package. Items as described and arrived in perfect condition. Good communication around shipping and tracking as items delayed and not able to be delivered by original estimate. Thanks to shipping updates I was able to track the items arriving before the extended delivery time. Thank you for making these items available on EBay.
