The 3DS XL is a handheld video game system that delivers a portable gaming experience with iconic Nintendo characters. Play games featuring Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, and more. The 3DS console also supports Amiibo, which are toys-to-life figurines that can change your gameplay in many ways. The Black Edition units are black stand-alone consoles that flip open and closed. The Nintendo XL is a hinged device with a roomy 4.88-inch display screen, long battery life, and sturdy build. The battery life will vary per charge based on your screen brightness settings and how often you play games. Generally, it can last from three to five hours when playing Nintendo 3DS games and five to eight hours if you’re using it to play Nintendo DS games. This device also comes with parental controls so you can restrict 3D mode for children ages six and under. This handheld system also features faster processing power, which allows for quicker loading of apps and games. The physical retail games sold for the 3DS system are cartridges. Nintendo cards are very lightweight and measure about 3.5 centimeters by 3.3 centimeters. There’s a port for them at the back of the hardware. Just insert the cartridge until it clicks. With a wireless Internet connection, you can also connect to Nintendo’s digital storefront, which is called the Nintendo eShop, directly from your 3DS. This store lets you purchase software in digital rather than physical format. This unit does come with a 4GB SD card for storing your downloaded games. When you enable the Street Pass feature, your system can communicate with other Nintendo DS systems that you pass by and exchange information with them. A signature feature of the 3DS is its dual capacitive touchscreens. There’s even a built-in holder to hold the stylus when it isn’t needed. The physical controls are built in and located to each side of the screens. To charge the device, simply insert the charger into the unit and plug it into an electrical socket.
