I know I bought a cheap book. I buy quite some books and sell some as well. I've received expensive books that were not even worth the value of the paper as they were very poorly packed. If you do not like or can not pack a book decently then there is no reason to sell it as it will always arrive in a messed up condition. This is why I pack my books "bullet proof". Here again, a simple brown paper wrapping was supposes to protect the book for an intercontinental travel ... not so.
