Synopsis
With the emergence of democracy in the city-state of Athens in the years around 460 BC, public speaking became an essential skill for politicians in the Assemblies and Councils - and even for ordinary citizens in the courts of law. In response, the technique of rhetoric rapidly developed, bringing virtuoso performances and a host of practical manuals for the layman. While many of these were little more than collections of debaters' tricks, the Art of Rhetoric held a far deeper purpose. Here Aristotle (384-322 BC) establishes the methods of informal reasoning, provides the first aesthetic evaluation of prose style and offers detailed observations on character and the emotions. Hugely influential upon later Western culture, the Art of Rhetoric is a fascinating consideration of the force of persuasion and sophistry, and a compelling guide to the principles behind oratorical skill., With the emergence of democracy in the city-state of Athens in the years around 460 BC, public speaking became an essential skill for politicians in the Assemblies and Councils - and even for ordinary citizens in the courts of law. - t***2 (167)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseItem is in excellent condition, as described. The only thing I didn't like & is very important. It was a DVD inside it's case however it was shipped in a plain white plastic non bubble wrap envelope. I could also hear the actual DVD jiggling around inside it's case before opening it. Thankfully it wasn't cracked, damaged but whoever packed this shipment should have made sure the actual DVD was securely "locked" on the center spindle on the inside of the DVD casing itself. A- seller. 👍🏻👍🏻Star Kid - DVD (#317015109017)
- p***r (253)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseGood deal! Considering that this cds was shipped clear across the country I would have to say that the shipping time was very good. The cds was well packaged. The cd was described as good and I think that that description was understated. I thought the cd was in very good condition. As such it was well worth the price. I am very happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this seller. Especially because they represent a very good cause! 10 out of 5 stars!!!!!!
