Brass is a soft material, it will deform when torqued. That is normal. That helps seal against the threads.This fan switch is made in America, not a cheap Chinese switch that will die in 1 year. That is why it costs a little more. The price didn't change any from the time you looked at item till you purchased it. If you were not satisfied, you could have returned for a full refund. I have 100% feedback & strive to satisfy my customers.
