Over the past five years, Francis Alys has been walking the streets of London, evolving an ambitious new project - Seven Walks - for Artangel. The walks are enacted in different parts of the city - Hyde Park, the City of London, the National Portrait Gallery, and the streets close to Regents Park. Involving a diverse range of collaborators from 64 Coldstream Guards to London commuters, Alys delves into the everyday rituals and habits of the metropolis. The ensuing films, videos, paintings, and drawings are presented together in Alys' first major public presentation in Britain. It includes a conversation between James Lingwood and Francis Alys. It is published to accompany the exhibition Seven Walks at 21 Portman Square, London, and the National Portrait Gallery, 28 September - 20 November 2005.
