From 1963 to 1989 Carlotta was queen of Kings Cross and her palace was Les Girls - Australia's longest running theatre restaurant. Les Girls became an institution in Sydney and was visited by people from all social classes and groups. Primarily a biography of Carlotta - Australia's famous transsexual - this is also a book of humour and gossip and the story of one person's journey from boyhood to womanhood. It also provides a social history of Kings Cross in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
