The 264th pontiff was the first to visit England and meet with Anglican Church leaders; the first to travel to Eastern Orthodox countries since the Great Schism of the 11th century; the first to enter a mosque and reach out to Muslims; and, most significantly, the first to actively improve Christian-Jewish relations by visiting WWII concentration camps and the sacred Wailing Wall in Jerusalem.
