The dial is responsive and returns to zero, though not as smooth as higher end dials. Perfect seller, and great price for what you get: a light duty test indicator.

Only minor nit-pick is the magnetic anchoring base surface may need just slight resurfacing to be perfectly leveled, but has been good far. At first the dial and adjustment arms seemed kind of short, but fits perfect on my 6" rotary table! Definitely great for the money and on smaller projects!
