Notes
A mere rundown of the arrangers who contributed to the band book of Georgie Auld's spectacular big band would whet anyone's appetite: Al Cohn, Tadd Dameron, Franz Jackson, Budd Johnson and Neil Hefti. As Jack McKinney noted twenty years ago, "those guys could make a cadaver dance." And they sure did! Volume two of the recordings of Georgie Auld presented in chronological order opens with his third big band session from 1945. On the first two, his band had been reinforced with a number of established stars who gave the outfit a new lift including Serge Chaloff, Joe Albany and Stan Levey.
