The mostly acoustic album opened the doors to an even broader fan base, making the band a household name. Featuring beautiful, melodic songs such as the hits "Casey Jones" and "Uncle John's Band," WORKINGMAN'S DEAD was voted Album of the Year by the readers of ROLLING STONE in '70.Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart remixed the surround and stereo sound for this special DVD audio release, revamping many vocals (most notably, the gospel-esque backing vocals in "New Speedway Boogie") and instruments that had been buried in previous mixes.
