I've bought and used many oxygen absorbers over the years and I can tell you for certain that the oxygen absorbers were well on their way to being bad. It's a little bit like a bag of cement that is going bad, it starts having hard parts in it, little lumps and larger lumps along with the part that is still good and still feels like a fine powder or grit. I used two absorbers instead of one with the meat that I freeze dried to make sure it stays safe. I don't know how often this happens.
