Made up of 88.5 percent copper, 6 percent zinc, 3.5 percent manganese, and 2 percent nickel, this James Madison coin measures 26.5 mm in diameter and weighs 8.1 gm. Furthermore, the obverse side of this James Madison coin, designed by Joel Iskowitz, depicts the portrait of James Madison along with an inscription that reads “JAMES MADISON” and “4th PRESIDENT 1809-1817”. Designed by Don Everhart, the reverse side of this James Madison coin showcases the Statue of Liberty along with the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “$1”. Inscribed at the edge of the 2007 James Madison dollar copper coin are mottoes “In God We Trust” and “E Pluribus Unum”.
