The previous fan was not really loud, but when trying to go to sleep the motor noise was objectable. Also fan was relatively easy to install, about 45 minutes to an hour. Instructions were easy to follow. If your uncomfortable working around electricity not a problem,does require working on a ladder. All parts were included
