Mike Wall is a massage therapist practicing near Seattle, WA. He is a musician, passionate nature sound recordist and sound chaser. While creating this music he consulted with therapists and their clients to ensure these soundscapes enhance the therapeutic flow of massage and enable deep levels of relaxation. This album also provides wonderful background music for studying, working, and meditation, and has been used by counselors during guided visualizations. Instruments and sounds include Native flutes, acoustic and electric guitars, Tibetan singing bowls, chimes, drones, and keyboard-based virtual instruments from around the world. Gentle nature sounds provide background, inspiration, and flow on many tracks. The music offers an interesting mix of Native American and Asian themes - in both cases evoking a sense of healing and spiritual longing. Native flutes act as a focal point in the music, sometimes capturing the haunting earthiness of the Southwest, while at others feeling more at home in the foothills of the Himalayas. Wall uses guitar to provide a subtle sense of warmth to the music, while chimes, bells, singing bowls and drone instruments provide an air of enchantment. The finishing touch is the use of keyboards and nature sounds to create a tranquil backdrop. This album really hits the mark. The composer, Mike Wall, effortlessly creates an unhurried yet melodic sanctuary for the mind, body, and spirit. This is one of those rare gems in the massage/yoga world that will have you on the first listen and will be a comfortable companion for years to come. After 18 years I can count the number of albums that have done this for me on one hand.
