About this product

Product Information

The 1970s were an exciting and explosive footballing decade that kicked off with Brazil winning the World Cup in spectacular style and climaxed with Liverpool and then Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest dominating in Europe. This was the age of the footballing masters: Pele, Johan Cruyff and George Best; outstanding teams: the flying Dutchman of Ajax, Arsenal's double-winning side, Celtic dominating Glasgow and Clouhie's Derby before his sensational departure. Nobody more epitomised the decade than Kevin Keegan. He kicked off the 1970s as an unknown player down in the Fourth Division with Scunthorpe and by the close was a world star with Hamburg and was twice voted European Footballer of the Year. In between he became an idol of the Kop at Anfield where his dynamic performances helped Liverpool become the kings of the domestic and European scenes. This retrospective covers the highs and lows of the footballing decade, including full statistical details, team line ups, league tables, top goal-scorers and main transfers.
