I have via the additional procurement of another flannel in a medium long size figured out that a medium long is indeed what fits me best, as this one was slightly too small unfortunately. However I like the color, it fits my shoulders well enough, I can button the cuffs (though I need to unbutton them to take the shirt off), and I don't really plan on buttoning up a wool flannel and tucking it into my pants anyways, besides the shorter length is actually better for that.
