They turned out not to be the actual buttons, but plastic covers over the buttons which were even easier to install. I put a new IDrive knob in aswell. It ll looks in proportion now because the new IDrive knob is elevated and would have looked too high above the original buttons, but because the buttons have also been elevated with the plastic covers, it all looks perfectly proportioned now. I took a pitcure of it after and looks like an BMW advert it's that good.
