Product Information

Ron Guth

The 1851 Three Cent Silver is the second most common date in the series, nearly as common as the 1852. Normally, one would expect the first year of the type to be the most common, as they usually have the highest mintage and/or were put aside in large quantities by collectors. This may have been the case, but collectors seem to have favored the 1852 over the 1851 for some reason. In any event, collectors of today will have no difficulty acquiring an 1851 Three Cent piece, including Mint State examples.

The typical Mint State 1851 Three Cent piece grades MS-64, though MS-63 appear nearly as frequently. Even MS-65 and MS-66 examples appear frequently. According to the September 2011 PCGS Population Report, the finest examples of this date are 11 MS-67s.

Received the the coin in great shape as described. Shipping was really super fast too. The packaging was adequate for safe arrival of the coin. And the money I paid for the coin, was a fantastic bargain & value too me. The coin now resides in my personal coin collection. I will definitely buy from this seller again in the future. Thank you for for a great coin much needed by me.

Seller was ultra-quick in responding to communications, and quite diligent in adhering to combined shipping. Item was just as shown, and well packaged. This cluster purchase of 4 coins from the same vendor are all solid and each is housed in an old slab, and those holders are in the best condition of any other group that I have ever encountered in the past. Very pristine.

Nice coin and a good value for the money. As described, no nonsense shipping & packaging. I’d like to think it would be hard to imagine there was a valuable coin inside. I looked a a lot of coins and prices before pushing the button on this one. Thanks for a good deal folks!
