Notes
1967's A Hard Road proved to be every bit as powerful and innovative as it's predecessor, thanks in large part to Mayall's discovery of Clapton's equally brilliant replacement, Peter Green. A one-of-a-kind player with a highly distinctive sound, Green makes his instrumental presence felt throughout A Hard Road, while delivering compelling lead vocals on "You Don't Love Me" and "The Same Way." With sterling support from bassist John McVie and drummer Aynsley Dunbar, the material here features such Mayall originals as "Hit the Highway, " "Leaping Christine" and the title track, along with standout interpretations of tunes by Freddie King, Elmore James and Willie Cobbs. The legendarily haunting Green-penned instrumental "The Supernatural" previews the guitarist's groundbreaking work with the original incarnation of Fleetwood Mac, which he and fellow Bluesbreaker John McVie would form a few months later. From the pristine U.K. mono masters, with complete original artwork and photos. John Mayall's fabled albums with Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Mick Taylor have been reissued before, but these discs, re-mastered from the original mono masters, sound absolutely glorious (whether on CD or vinyl). -Pete Prown
Item description from the seller
Seller feedback (5,753)
- h***l (2038)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseAs described, except there was no mention of tiny brown spots on both sides of the lp cover. on the pic shown it looked like they were on the plastic cover. I asked seller about it and he said he didn't know. The album is in pristine condition other than the tiny brown spots. The album still has it's OBI. Album looks unplayed with zero scratches and no signs of lint etc. Packaging was well done and shipping seamed to move faster than usual. I gave positive feedback and maybe i shouldn't have...Beck, Bogert and Appice by Jeff Beck (Record, 2015) (#296115400378)
- s***r (201)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseSeller shipped out quickly. Unfortunately USPS sent the package to a facility within 50 miles of me and then redirected it downstate for no reason so it ended up taking a couple days longer than it should have. Not in the seller's control. Record was packed well and arrived in perfect shape. Condition was as described. Looked like new. No scratches, no fingerprints and no dust. Record played perfectly. I was very happy to find this record in the States.
