Feldman, Lifespan Development: A Topical Approach Carol LaLiberte - Asnuntuck Community College The opening prologue was very effective and relevant to my college students' lives. To recap and refer to this at the end in the epilogue really ties the learning together. This text is extremely comprehensive, tackling current issues such as the amount of stress on young children as a result of testing and the effects of homework on school children. Suzy Horton - Mesa Community College These (features in Feldman) are excellent and the format makes them stand out and more likely to be read by students for their unique content. I especially like the neuroscience features. This makes the textbook very current. Michelle Clark - James Madison University I found this to be a real strength of the text-- the research was very much up to date. Feldman's modules were more user-friendly and overall I think he does a better job of conveying the applicability of material to the students' own lives. Janine Buckner - Seton Hall University The writing is practical and clear (with insight and humor to boot!) AND effective. It is an engaging resource. James Guinee - University of Central Arkansas The Feldman text is one of the better texts on the market today, and I have been eagerly waiting a topically organized text for lifespan development. Salvador Macias - University of South Carolina Sumter I found the writing very interesting and well organized. Elaine Cassel - Lord Fairfax Community College Nice writing style. The chapters are clear, interesting, and well-organized and I like the examples. I think there are a sufficient number of examples. Sandra Sego - American International College The most compelling thing about the text is that it is clear and easy to read. Carolyn Fallahi - Central Connecticut State University Easy to understand language. Interesting, real world questions lead each major section. Jackie Goldstein - Samford University Very clear AND thorough. Robert Stennett - Gainesville State College This is a very well-written textbook. It will enjoy wide appeal to students and faculty alike. It covers relevant information in a readable and entertaining way, with real-life examples that most students can relate to their own lives. Ronnie Naramore - Angelina College The number of real world examples was impressive. The research cited is very up-to-date and accurate. Diane Wille - IU Southeast The research is current and accurate. I was impressed with the number of new studies used to explain and expand the concepts. Kathleen Rudasill - University of Louisville Strongly interested; this has excellent potential for my course, Feldman, Lifespan Development: A Topical Approach Carol LaLiberte - Asnuntuck Community College The opening prologue was very effective and relevant to my college students' lives. Synopsis
For Human Development/Lifespan Development courses organized topically. Life Span Development: A Topical Approach is based on the chronologically-organized, highly popular Development Across the Life Span, is be approximately 20% shorter than traditional lifespan books and organized topically . Feldman maintains the student friendliness that has been the hallmark of Feldman's other development textbooks. It pays particular attention to the applications that can be drawn from theory and research in the field. To optimize student learning and to provide instructors with maximum flexibility, the book uses a modular approach. Consequently, rather than facing long, potentially daunting chapters, students encounter material that is divided into smaller, more manageable chunks (modules). Presenting material in small chunks represents a structure that research long ago found to be optimum for promoting learning. Available with MyDevelopmentLab!
