I tried shock on lowest setting & he jumped 3 ft in the air twirling the whole way. I won't be using that setting. Please try the sound first, then vibrate, trying to avoid the shock if possible. My Service Dog trainer said he has yet to see someone actually need to use the shock setting on dogs under 40 lbs. AWESOME PRODUCT....SUPERB SELLER! ��~Jewell
