It's an artificial chemical smell that's sort of perfume-like. But it's definitely not perfume or cologne. The jacket, somewhere along the way, was treated with a chemical for whatever reason. I don't know if it's something the seller applied. I've been airing it out, outside, for weeks, and the smell isn't as strong now.
