It seems, however, that if you buy items from Japan, on top of the agreed price you have to pay over 10% in some tax (surprise). Then, once the item arrives in the country, it's basically kept hostage until you pay another 20% in additional charges -- also a surprise. I'm not sure if this is because ebay Global Shipping wasn't used (it was shipped by DHL) -- but I ended up paying much much more than I was prepared for.
