Pic on the box shows slide on right. The instructions have you putting it on the left, followed by right and then left side. It can be either end but decide early. Only problem I had was with the connectors. Rather the slots for tightening them. A Phillis- tip type cross an inch or more across. No, there isn’t any tool included with the swing.
