I thought it snapped based on how he picture but it’s a piece of metal covered with leather that you fold over to hold the belt in place. It doesn’t lie flat as there is nothing to secure that folded over piece. It seems like it will eventually break at the point of the bend from metal fatigue. You can only bend metal in the same place so many times before it gives.
