I've found if i tap the mute button repeatedly i can get it to reconnect. I assume it's a loose connection internally.

I’m regretting not getting this earlier before investing in a several hundred dollars of Asus Mesh system. Now I can enjoy wired backhaul from my Asus GT-BE98 Pro to the ZenWiFi BT10. I am floored away. Highly recommend going this route if you have coaxial cable running instead of running Ethernet cable.
