The lens filter was brand new as described. Most lens filter manufacturers have discontinued making 48 mm lenses for film cameras. Only on eBay can you find brand new old stock such as the one I ordered. Fast shipping as well.

The Hoya HMC filters it turns out the coating is super fragile and requires no-touch no-clean policy - don't even breath on it. I have two identical filters one non-HMC to compare - and the HMC has very little if any optical advantage. The non-HMC still has perfect coating while the HMC looks rough after a single wipe with the same cloth. It's also delaminating a bit. I'll have to use only special cleaner and wipes for the job so I won't be buying any more. It's just kind of silly.
