Reviews
"No amount of mere description can convey more than a fraction of Lord Dunsany's pervasive charm." --H.P. Lovecraft "We find that he has but tranfigured with beauty the common sights of the world." --William Butler Yeats "I shall indeed be happy if this volume contributes to the rediscovery of one of the greatest writers of this century." --Arthur C. Clarke "Del Ray is to be thanked for bringing these works back into print. No one can understand modern fantasy without understanding its roots, and Lord Dunsany's work is immediately significant as well as enjoyable even today." --Katharine Kerr "A fantasy novel in a class with the Tolkien books." --L. Sprague de Camp, "Inventor of a new mythology and weaver of surprising folklore, Lord Dunsany stands dedicated to a strange world of fantastic beauty . . . unexcelled in the sorcery of crystalline singing prose, and supreme in the creation of a gorgeous and languorous world of incandescently exotic vision. No amount of mere description can convey more than a fraction of Lord Dunsany's pervasive charm." --H. P. Lovecraft Lord Dunsany "who has imagined colors, ceremonies and incredible processions . . . has yet never wearied of the most universal of emotions and the one most constantly associated with the sense of beauty; and when we come to examine these astonishments that seemed so alien we find that he has but transfigured with beauty the commons sights of the world." --William Butler Yeats "I shall indeed be happy if this volume contributes to the rediscovery of one of the greatest writers of this century." --Arthur C. Clarke "A fantasy novel in a class with the Tolkien books." --L. Sprague de Camp

Synopsis
"No amount of mere description can convey more than a fraction of Lord Dunsany's pervasive charm."--H.P. Lovecraft With an introduction by Neil Gaiman The poetic style and sweeping grandeur of The King of Elfland's Daughter has made it one of the most beloved fantasy novels of our time, a masterpiece that influenced some of the greatest contemporary fantasists. The heartbreaking story of a marriage between a mortal man and an elf princess is a masterful tapestry of the fairy tale following the "happily ever after." Praise for The King of Elfland's Daughter "We find that he has but tranfigured with beauty the common sights of the world." --William Butler Yeats "I shall indeed be happy if this volume contributes to the rediscovery of one of the greatest writers of this century." --Arthur C. - e***n (392)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseGreat transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. Thanks, Joe
- 0***g (380)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseExcellent purchase. Was able to get all three items from the one seller. Seller was able to bundle all three items together into one package. Items as described and arrived in perfect condition. Good communication around shipping and tracking as items delayed and not able to be delivered by original estimate. Thanks to shipping updates I was able to track the items arriving before the extended delivery time. Thank you for making these items available on EBay.
