These disks (I have the very course and medium) do an excellent job at removing material. My specific purpose was for cleaning up surfaces on some hard maple log sections. After felling a year earlier, I peeled off the bark and cleaned up the large limb bumps with a chainsaw. Then, used these Kutzall disks to smooth the surfaces up and remove the chainsaw marks. Worked magnificently! The maple was so hard that my large Makita belt sander with 60 grit barely scratched it. Lots of fine dust.
