The world music event of the year: the last king of the Desert Blues Album - "Absolutely perfect," enthuses Ry Cooder. On 7 March 2006 died in Bamako, Mali, one of the most renowned musicians of Africa. Ali Farka Touré was considered "King of the Desert Blues", his collaboration with Ry Cooder made the singer and guitarist in 1993 known worldwide. With "Savane" will appear 2006, the last solo album of the two-time Grammy winner, who recently excelled together with Toumani Diabaté ("In The Heart Of The Moon"). "Savane" is the testament of a musical life and the review of Touré's Malian roots. He recorded the album until shortly before his death in Bamako and was very satisfied upon completion: "It's my best album," said Toure, "it has the most power and is the most diversified." In fact, "Savane" on the one hand, the most traditional music Touré, but then also the one that most clearly based on the blues. A great legacy of a great artist.
