It is dyed and exposed on the back where it is glued to the wires. I asked family members if it looked real, just to see if I was being too picky, and was told that no one would be fooled by the stone. This was said by a child. Wirework is varied in color, itchy on the skin, and not as well done as the ad shows. The rainbow moonstone is of very low quality and barely glued in place.
