Claims to be Solid State, instead of the simple bimetal heated blades found on the original, a feature that eventually ends up providing inaccurate gauge readings. Upon disassembly cannot really determine, as “guts” of regulator are enclosed in a block of some sort of black plastic material. I guess we will just have to take their word on it. I am not about to destroy what could be a very good functioning instrument voltage regulator by attempting to dig into that plastic block.

Yes, These instrument cluster voltage regulators are the new solid state technology for smooth gauge performance and no adjustment is needed. Ford original instrument cluster voltage regulators required adjustments but who wants to do that, so its better to replace with a new unit.
