Also thought it would be matt black not glossy, but still a very attractive storage container. Won't hold anywhere near enoogh of the firelighters we get through in a week, and feel it would be better in the standard firelighter-size box we buy them in. But nothing to do with the seller on this occasion, so all good and down to the manufactuer Valliant to resolve!
