She was designed to be unbreakable. Bending her arms & legs inward to sit in a smaller box was safe with a soft stuffed doll w soft vinyl head. The plastic bag was to protect her from moisture since it was raining non-stop for a week and I believe if she got damp, sat in a dark box, you would have received a musty, smelly doll. Shipping fees increase by a lot w a big box.
