The indicator LEDs are on the front of the device and not on the remote so there is no way for the operator to know what the state of the device is or whether or not it is recording. About 50% of the time it fails to record even when the red LED on the remote indicates a successful command. There is insufficient tactile feedback on the remote to know if the button was successfully pushed.
