Synopsis
The aim of this book is to provide an overview of mathematical physiology containing a variety of physiological models. The book is divided into two parts. The first is a pedagogical presentation of some of the basic theory, with chapters on biochemical reactions, diffusion, excitability, wave propagation and cellular homeostasis. The second, more extensive part of the book, discusses particular physiological systems, with chapters on calcium dynamics, bursting oscillations and secretion, cardia cells, muscles, intercellular communication, the circulatory system, the immune system, wound healing, the respiratory system, the visual system, hormone physiology, renal physiology, digestion, the visual system and hearing., "Probably the best book ever written on the subject of mathematical physiology....It contains numerous exercises, enough to keep even the most diligent student busy...highly recommended to anybody interested in mathematical or theoretical physiology." --Mathematical Reviews This book details ways that mathematical theory can give insights into physiological questions and how physiological questions can in turn lead to new mathematical problems.

The 1954 1st edition, 7th printing of "The Wilderness World of John Muir," edited by Edwin Way Teale is as pictured and described. Got a great deal. Great communication. The book was wrapped in plastic, placed in a sturdy cardboard sandwich, wrapped in plastic again, and placed in a rugged mailer! Fort Knox in a Mailer! Arrived quickly and safely into my hands! Beautiful book! Excited to add to my growing John Muir & John Muir-related collection! Thank you! !!!!!!Seller Highly Recommended!!!!!!
