ELVIS COUNTRY, originally released in January 1971, was a pivotal release in Elvis career in that it served to maintain the momentum generated by the Singer TV Special, the breakthrough in Las Vegas and Elvis long overdue return to touring. Often referred to as one of the few concept albums by Elvis, the country theme is the mainstay but it is the singing - the true passion and engagement - which marks ELVIS COUNTRY as something truly exceptional. Elvis gives the listener a further understanding of what drove the man and his music.
