Onondaga Indians Prehistor y remains the single most important study of the developmental history of the Onondagas, one of the five original tribes comprising the League of the Iroquois, prior to the transformations wrought by contact with European civilization. Neither the archaeological information from excavated village sites, nor the interpretations where Tuck presents strong arguments for the in situ model of Iroquois origins, have been substantially modified by later work.
